Skeleton of a home.
2007 was a long year for Merla and me. After 2 years in the tiny cabin after moving from Texas, we finally started seeing progress on a real house. We didn’t move in until late winter 2008. It rained more than 50 different times amidst the construction process. The designing process was soooo slow as we knew this was it – our last home – never to move again (hoo-rah!). No room for mistakes, though, cause we can’t move away from them. We had planned so long concerning so many aspects of design and layout - we just didn’t want to settle for a standard design or something commonly found. We knew all the things we wanted and so we focused on getting it designed as such. I drew it on a computer home design program which allowed you to take a virtual walk through it with furniture on the computer. When the actual house finally had sheet-rock up and I walked through it for real for the first time, it was like I had already been there a thousand times! It worked! I’m sure it’s not what anyone else in the world would really exactly want but it’s just exactly what Merla and I want. We are so looking forward to our first Christmas in it!
