Dear Russell:
I'm writing to let you know that I am an absolute believer in Master Works hammer dulcimers! I've been playing my MW 15-14 for almost three years now and I really love the instrument. Recently, though, I had the opportunity to try out a new Russell Cook Edition when Jeanne Page at Apple Mountain Music let me put hammer to string on her new dulcimer. The difference in tone quality across the entire range was incredible and now I'm waiting on delivery of my own new Russell Cook Edition dulcimer!
However, let me tell you why I really am such a fan of your dulcimers. I am a member of a new acoustic folk group here in Albuquerque. We had our first practice session the first weekend in January and we've practiced together several weekends since then in preparing for out first performance coming up in a few weeks. There are seven members in the group and the instruments we play include three Celtic harps, three hammer dulcimers, one mountain dulcimer, one guitar, one bowed psaltry, a flute and tin whistle, and a wash tub bass. We've made it a point to record all our practice sessions and I've recently been listening over and over to our first recording and I'm particularly proud of the quality of the sound the group is producing. What impresses me most, though, is the sound of the three Master Works 15-14 dulcimers backed by the harps and the guitar.
I've been listening for the past four years to lots of dulcimer music, both hammer and mountain dulcimers. Over that time, I've heard quite a few different hammer dulcimers built by several very fine craftsmen and I can say without hesitation that the Master Works dulcimer is superior to any other instrument. My MW 15-14 has such a rich and beautiful voice and hearing it along with two others just like it was simply remarkable! Each of these instruments has its own unique voice characteristics but it's your particular design and the quality of material and workmanship which obviously goes into the construction of all your instruments that gives that unequaled Master Works sound.
There just is not a better hammer dulcimer than a Master Works and I'm proud to own and to play the best there is!
Thanks...
